If you’re anything like me, you have big goals and dreams. But sometimes, despite those lofty ideas you get a bit tired and say I’ll do it tomorrow.
Then tomorrow comes and so does Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Weeks turn into months and next thing you know you’re stuck in the same place you were a year ago.
I find that too often we focus on the end result and ignore the baby steps in between.
And you know what? It’s those baby steps that take you to where you need to be. Putting one step in front of the other is not easy but it gets you to your destination a lot quicker than standing still.
I didn’t want to put up a blog post today because I worked all day yesterday and all I wanted to do was mindlessly scroll through Facebook and watch T.V (sarcastic tone: please have pity on me ;-)).
But two days ago, I was hyped and said yeah, I want to be that consistent blogger who speaks 3 languages. The only difference between then and now is the motivation…actually having to put in the work.
Baby steps are usually not fun. But when I watch the interviews of how people mastered a skill or how they’ve reached a certain level of “success,” it came from times of studying and practicing when they didn’t feel like it. It happened in those moments when they decided to “put time in” even though they just wanted to sleep or hang out with friends. Their success resulted when they preserved and stayed consistent even though no one uttered a congratulations or way to go, I knew you could do it.
This post is really to remind myself to keep taking those baby steps and be consistent.
Putting up a blog post today is a small victory…a baby step to getting to where I want to go.
